Bamboo possesses no vulgar air; tea exudes a pure fragrance. As an old Chinese saying goes, “Rather go without meat than live without bamboo.” Tea drinking is an indispensable part of daily life for the Chinese. Both “bamboo” and “tea” are integral to worldly life, deeply intertwined with everyday existence. Yet they also embody profound sentiment, connecting to ideals and aesthetic beauty. So, what experience unfolds when “bamboo” encounters “tea”?

Starting from August, China Cultural Center in Stockholm presents “Tea for Harmony Yaji Cultural Salon”, featuring “Bamboo Meets Tea” cultural exhibition. Artworks from Nanping, Fujian – homeland of bamboo – paired with the art of tea, offer a uniquely refreshing experience during the Nordic summer.

Immersed in this bamboo-themed space, the enchantment arises not only from the tea’s aroma. The unique artistic ambiance created by bamboo elements seamlessly blends with the refreshing atmosphere evoked by tea culture. The elegant charm of bamboo is irreplaceable by any other material. Inherently graceful and serene, it continues to enrich modern life. Simple, clean, and gracefully arranged bamboo utensils and crafts represent not just exquisite craftsmanship at the fingertips, but also a deep-rooted Eastern sensibility.

Amidst the curling tea fragrance and exquisite bamboo artistry, you can emulate the timeless devotion of Chinese scholars to tea and bamboo. Through hands-on tea ceremony practice, discover the simple joys inherent in the plants of this world.
