
On November 21, 2025, “Fusion of Horizons – International Touring Exhibition of Watercolor Works from Chinese Art Academies” was inaugurated at China Cultural Center in Stockholm, Sweden. The exhibition features over 100 representative watercolor works from 31 Chinese higher art institutions, showcasing the current achievements in Chinese watercolor painting and professional education. These works embody Chinese aesthetic characteristics while embracing an international artistic perspective. Li Rui, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden and Director of China Cultural Center in Stockholm, and over a hundred guests from the Swedish art scene, Sinology circles, and Chinese art lovers attended the opening event.


In her speech, Dai Weihong, Deputy Director of China Cultural Center in Stockholm, mentioned that Chinese artistic works open a new window for Swedish audiences to perceive China, revealing a nation with profound heritage, vibrant innovation, and a willingness to share its cultural perspective with the world.

Li Baoxun, Associate Professor at Luxun Academy of Fine Arts and project manager of the touring exhibition, pointed out that Sweden is a world-renowned country of art and design, boasting rich cultural heritage and innovative artistic atmosphere. This exhibition is a meeting of minds and mutual learning among civilizations. He also delivered a special lecture on the century-long development history of Chinese watercolor art, covering its transformation and integration in the early 20th century, challenges and breakthroughs in the mid-20th century, and the reshaping and self-awareness since the 21st century, leading to the current fusion and transcendence in watercolor creation. The lecture not only provided the audience with an overview of Chinese watercolor art but also served as an insightful guide, deepening their understanding of the exhibition’s curatorial concept and the works on display.







During the event, guests also used Chinese watercolor as a medium for dialogue, conducting friendly artistic exchange and technical discussion. The exhibition will run until January 24, 2026.
