UnionPay Launches “Nihao China” App

China UnionPay officially launched the “Nihao China” app on December 19, providing one-stop digital services for overseas visitors in China, covering payment, travel, daily life, and cultural tourism. The app supports UnionPay cards, Visa, and MasterCard top-ups, leveraging the integrated network of UnionPay, WeChat, and Alipay to enable QR code payments in over 300 online and offline scenarios, including transportation, accommodation, and shopping. The travel module has been integrated with China’s 43 city subway systems and 1,760 county-level and above public transport networks, achieving “one-code access” and allowing inbound tourists to experience seamless and convenient QR code payments.

Relying on the integrated acceptance network of UnionPay, WeChat, and Alipay within the country, the app has achieved broader payment coverage. Online payments support over 300 applications such as 12306 China Railway, Ctrip, Meituan, and JD.com, enabling services like one-click online shopping.

In terms of travel, the app’s travel services cover subway and bus systems in 43 key cities and tourist destinations, and public transportation systems in 1,760 county-level and above cities nationwide, truly achieving “one-code access”.

The app also provides convenient navigation to nearby facilities such as ATMs and foreign currency exchange points. It offers real-time global currency exchange rates and supports conversion between over 160 currencies, including US dollars, Chinese yuan, and euros.

The app’s departure tax refund service now covers major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Haikou, and Sanya, featuring OCR recognition, QR code interaction, and a fully English interface.

The app also features built-in real-time translation and page translation tools, supporting multilingual conversational and text translation.
