Chinese New Year’s Poetry and Art Exhibition Opening Ceremony
Interactive Art Workshop & Poetry Evening
Reflections of Poems Art Exhibition

It was in connection with the Qinghai Lake International Poetry Festival 2015 in China that the Swedish poet Bengt Berg and Chinese artist duo “LAM&Cherry” (Lin Jiangquan & Zeng Dongping) first met.
“We had a spontaneous and cordial contact and the collaboration developed into three exhibitions in Sweden about a year apart. We have met in both Stockholm and Värmland and each meeting has led to some outward-looking program or project. I also visited their hometown of Guangzhou in 2019 after a poetry festival in Chengdu“, Bengt says.
Lam&Cherry started to work with discarded book versions from the publication process of Bengt Berg; mixing the books into pulp making new Chinese rice paper out of it, finally drawing reflections of the poet’s books published over the past 50 years – a sort of automatic painting that allows the poets’ ideas to “paint themselves”, capturing the rhythm of space from conceptual art and contemporary poetry meaning “books paint themselves”.
This is not just painting – when LAM&Cherry take discarded Bengt Berg poetry collections and mix them into paper pulp, this is also a way to philosophically tamper with image copyright and to conduct research on Bengt Berg’s 50 years of poetry writing and publication chronology.
In the beginning Lam&Cherry used Bengt’s daily poetry art “Apelsin” (Orange) to run through more than 100 paintings. Orange is an image conveyed by the contemplative and humorous genes in Bengt’s poetry, also illustrated in Bengt’s film “Apelsinpromenad / Orange Walk”.
This collaboration resulted in exhibitions both in the Swedish two towns Torsby and Sunne and later in October 2024 at Lars Lerin´s museum Sandgrund.
Parts of these exhibitions together with many new art pieces, videos, installations and Bengt Berg’s poetry is now shown at China Cultural Center in Stockholm, the title “I en vrå av världen” referring to one of Bengt Berg’s poetry publications.
