Preface: Spring Tides and Artistic Symbiosis
At 17:00 on March 20, 2026, a vibrant atmosphere filled China Cultural Center in Stockholm as the compelling art exhibition, “Livsflöden— Sculpture and Painting Exhibition,” officially commenced. Curated by Maria Nordsø Lundberg, Artistic Director of the Center, this exhibition marks the first collective gathering of ten Chinese and Swedish artists. Titled “Livsflöden(Tidal Life),” the exhibition symbolizes artistic inspiration surging like tides from different times and spaces, eventually converging in Stockholm into a restless force of life.
Finding “Convergence and Connection”

From the perspective of curator Maria Nordsø Lundberg, this exhibition is an artistic narrative born from multicultural exchange. The artworks in the hall are like musical notes, harmonizing to play a moving movement. The creative trajectories of these artists have collided and intertwined over many years, and now, within this shared space, they collectively tell stories of life, time, and matter.
The Power of Carving and the Flow of Color

Visitors paused before the stone sculptures by artists such as Ole Drebold, Bernt Eriksson, and Sam Westerholm. Carved and “released” from alabaster, diabase, and Swedish quartzite, these works carry the rhythmic “breath” of hand-tooling, demonstrating how artists breathe warm souls into cold, hard stone.

Another artistic current flows from the dialogue between Eva Zettervall and Professor Zhang Fangbai, spanning Shanghai and Sweden. As a Swedish artist who previously taught in Shanghai, Eva’s vibrant oils and Professor Zhang’s profound ink-wash works complement each other, creating an artistic space where materiality and transcendence, carving and painting, resonate in turn.
Art as a Connecting Bond

On the opening evening, China Cultural Center in Stockholm was filled with guests. Artists, dignitaries, and art enthusiasts from both China and Sweden wandered through the “Tidal Life” space. Art transcended the barriers of borders and language, filling this March afternoon with the vital energy of cultural integration.
