April 15, 2026, a high-level expert symposium was held at China Cultural Center in Stockholm. Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Zhou Limin attended the event, gathering with nearly 20 top Swedish experts and scholars from various fields to exchange in-depth views on scientific and technological innovation and China-Sweden cooperation.

Ambassador Zhou Limin pointed out in his speech that innovation is a priority for China-Sweden cooperation. Currently, China’s rapid development in science and technology innovation brings important opportunities to countries including Sweden. Under the guidance of the “15th Five-Year Plan”, China will attach greater importance to scientific and technological innovation and high-level opening up, and expects the experts present to leverage their professional advantages to continuously deepen and solidify practical cooperation between the two countries in fields such as science and technology, education, and talent. Participating experts and scholars expressed their willingness to further strengthen scientific research cooperation and personnel exchanges with China, and put forward constructive suggestions for promoting bilateral cooperation.

Following the seminar, the scientists experienced a Chinese cultural experience program carefully arranged by China Cultural Center in Stockholm, which combined tea, art, and VR technology. The Swedish scientists gained a three-dimensional and diverse understanding of China.

Chinese Tea Art
From brewing to tasting, scientists also slow down

In the tea-fragrant experience area, the tea artist warmed the cups, added tea, poured water, and served the tea, all in one smooth motion. The scientists first observed with great interest, and soon began to experience it firsthand. Everyone picked up their teacups, first smelling the aroma, then slowly savoring it. One expert exclaimed:”I never imagined that a single leaf, after fermentation and roasting, could emit such rich layers of aroma.” The tea artist briefly introduced the terroir and craftsmanship behind different teas, and the scientists took photos and notes, saying that it was not only a culinary delight but also like a “nature class” on time and transformation.

China-Sweden Art Exhibition
A Dialogue Between Science and Art Through Air

Steping into the exhibition hall of China Cultural Center in Stockholm, scientists stood in groups of twos and threes in front of the paintings, carefully appreciating the different yet harmonious expressions of Chinese and Swedish artists. One expert took out his phone to photograph the exhibits and said, “This is a perfect formal presentation of different modes of thinking, more convincing than many data charts.” Everyone exchanged ideas with the curators from time to time, discussing art, cultural differences, and then extending from Chinese and Swedish aesthetics to the connection between creativity and scientific discovery.

VR Cultural Experience
A second “fly” to thousands of miles away in China

What surprised scientists most was the VR cultural experience zone. Wearing virtual reality equipment, everyone seemed to “travel” from Stockholm to the ancient Three Kingdoms period, encountering historical figures unexpectedly at Jianmen Pass. Experts said that this combination of technology and cultural heritage is natural and vivid, making people personally feel the huge potential of immersive technology in education and cultural heritage.

China Cultural Center in Stockholm used the fragrance of Chinese tea, art exhibitions, and cutting-edge technology to allow Swedish scientists to experience the unique charm and contemporary vitality of Chinese culture up close, presenting a China that is approachable, trustworthy, tangible, and warm.
