Slow Weaving Art Exhibition
In the microscopic world of nature, there exists a form of “textile art” that we often overlook. China Cultural Center in Stockholm is about to host a unique exhibition—”Slow Weaving”—inviting you to step into the extraordinary creations of artist Erland and explore the organic fiber world constructed from fungi and insect materials.
Exhibition Introduction
Cross-border dialogue between nature and craftsmanship
Erland’s works center on slow-growing insect and fungal materials, which layer upon one another, growing like organic fibers. To him, they are “natural textiles,” possessing fibrous structures that bind, decompose, and build ecosystems. The exhibition will showcase how these fibers are collected, sorted, and recombined in novel ways, presenting a unique artistic form at the intersection of control and biological growth. Each piece allows the material itself to influence its shape, revealing a marvelous balance between fashion, textile craftsmanship, and natural growth.
Parallel Exhibition: Modern Takes on Chinese Costume Traditions International Touring Exhibition
Meanwhile, China Cultural Center in Stockholm will simultaneously launch the exhibition “Heritage Revived: Modern Takes on Chinese Costume Traditions International Touring Exhibition”. As a funded project of the China National Arts Fund 2026 for Communication, Exchange, and Promotion, this exhibition is jointly hosted by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and China Cultural Center in Stockholm. Featuring over 200 exhibits, it uses “warp” to trace the spiritual core of traditional clothing through time and “weft” to showcase the innovative fusion of ancient genes with contemporary design and technology across space. From the Miao ethnic tin-embroidered tops of Jianhe, Guizhou, to the creative reinterpretations by contemporary designers, the exhibition will take you on a journey to experience the inheritance and rebirth of Oriental aesthetics.

In this exhibition, you will see not only static exhibits, but also ecological time and life trajectories that have been solidified. Let us slow down and re-examine nature’s exquisite weaving skills in the microscopic fiber structure.
