September 11, the 2nd China Film Week in Sweden opened at the Swedish Film Institute. The event was also part of the “The Moonment to Remember” cultural program series organized by China Cultural Center in Stockholm. Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Zhou Limin and Deputy Director of the China Film Archive, Lu Liang, attended the opening ceremony and joined more than 350 overseas Chinese, students and teachers from Chinese-language schools, and other guests for a screening of the opening film, Dear You.

With its heartfelt portrayal of family ties and homesickness, the film resonated deeply with the audience. Many members of the Chaoshan community drove for hours to attend the screening, reconnecting with a familiar sense of home and belonging through the film.

Ambassador Zhou Limin said that Dear You portrays the deep attachment to home and strong sense of loyalty and family cherished by overseas Chinese. For years, the Chinese community in Sweden has put down roots locally, supported one another, and preserved Chinese culture while actively integrating into Swedish society, making an important contribution to people-to-people friendship between China and Sweden. He encouraged the community to carry on these traditions and contribute further to China-Sweden friendship and exchanges.

Lu Liang said that people in both China and Sweden value family, embrace life, and use film to capture the times and reflect on society. Following the success of the inaugural China Film Week last year, held to mark the 75th anniversary of China-Sweden diplomatic relations, this year’s event features a selection of acclaimed recent Chinese films, showcasing the diversity and vitality of Chinese films to Swedish audiences.

Running through September 17, the film week will feature screenings in Stockholm and Gothenburg, including Blades of the Gurdians: The Wind Rises in the Desert, The Lychee Road, Shenzhou 13, Nobody, Viva La Vida, YOLO, and Pegasus 3, showcasing contemporary Chinese society and culture through a diverse selection of films.

The event is organized by China Cultural Center in Stockholm, China Film Archive and Chinese Consulate-General in Gothenburg and supported by China Film Administration, with UnionPay as sponsor.
