The term mid-autumn (中秋) first appeared in The Rites of Zhou, a written collection of rituals of the Western Zhou dynasty (1046–771 BCE). The celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival began in the early years of the Tang dynasty and prevailed in the Song dynasty. By the Ming and Qing dynasties, it has become one of the traditional Chinese festivals as famous as the Spring Festival. Influenced by Chinese culture, Mid-Autumn Festival is also a traditional festival for local Chinese in Sweden. The full moon, as flawless as the jade, symbolizes harmony and unity; the bright moon, as clear as a mirror, reflects the shared wishes for peace and perfection. On this joyous day, China Cultural Center in Stockholm presents this online show to our dear friends and local Chinese in Sweden together with Chinese and Swedish cultural organizations and individuals, so that we can enjoy the same cultural experience under the same moon.
