“March 8” International Women’s Day Art Lecture
Organized by Stockholm Chinese Cultural Center
To celebrate the “March 8” International Women’s Day, the Stockholm Chinese Cultural Center and the Swedish Chinese Federation jointly held the “March 8” International Women’s Day Art Lecture. Artist Ma Jun told the history of Western art for an audience of nearly 100 people. Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden and Director of the Stockholm China Cultural Center, Chen Xiao, and Chairman of the Swedish Chinese Federation, Guo Yancai, attended the event and delivered a speech.
In her speech on the “March 8” International Women’s Day, Counselor Chen Xiao said that she understands Western society through analyzing the history, culture and history of art of the present country. This enhances the appreciation of art and beauty, enriches knowledge, and cultivates the taste of life. At the same time, doing this at the Chinese Cultural Center is like taking a Chinese vessel and fill it with Western wine. It is a happy thing in a beautiful object.
Counselor Chen Xiao also expressed her hope that the Swedish Chinese Federation will continue to play an active role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Sweden, and wish that everyone will often come and guest the Cultural Center.
The nearly three hours of lecture was vivid and rich in content and made the audience still wanting for more. After the lectures at the Chinese Cultural Center, everyone was led by the artist Ma Jun to visit the Stockholm Museum of Modern Art and continue to listen to their on site lectures.
