Poverty alleviation is one of the most concerned issues of the international community. The primary goal set forth by the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is to “eradicate all forms of poverty around the world”. In recent years, the rapid development of tourism has effectively promoted sustainable economic and social development of poverty-stricken areas. Poverty alleviation through tourism has become a new path and key to poverty alleviation around the world. In China, fighting poverty has long been a challenging task. Tourism has played a key role in national poverty alleviation with rural tourism facilitating local economic development and rural revitalization, especially in central and western provinces.
